First Confirmed COVID-19 Case In Val Verde County/City of Del Rio
(Press Release) Confirmation has been made on March 24, 2020 through Val Verde Regional Medical Center of the first positive case of COVID-19 in Val Verde County. This is the first COVID-19 case to be confirmed in Val Verde County and was travel related.
The family has been self-quarantined since their return to Del Rio and have not visited any local businesses since their return. The patient flew into San Antonio International Airport and then drove to Del Rio. They immediately self-quarantined once arriving to Del Rio.
More detailed information will be released from City and County officials tomorrow, March 25, 2020.
City and County officials continue to urge everyone to help limit the spread of disease through proper hygiene practices:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Avoid contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home as much as possible, but especially if you are feeling sick.
• Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue to cover it, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
