After an exhaustive recount of the March 3, 2020 Texas Democratic Party Primary Election for the 293rd Judicial District Attorney race held during March 17-19 in the three counties of Dimmit, Maverick and Zavala, the unofficial recount results demonstrate that incumbent District Attorney Roberto Serna gained an additional 27 votes than the Election Day count to solidify his victory over challenger Alberto Rodriguez by a final total of 7,512 votes in favor of Serna and 7,452 votes for Rodriguez. Serna wins re-election by a total of 60 votes instead of 33 votes as announced at the March 3rd primary election.
Serna stated that “as your public servant, I am absolutely humbled and grateful for receiving the mandate to continue serving as your District Attorney. To all of our supporters, thank you from my very soul. To all the voters who voted, I promise to respect each and everyone of you. Honesty, fairness, and decency to all in the administration of justice. It is time to mend fences, make peace with our fellow citizens, and live and work together as friends and neighbors. Let us now unite our district for the good of all of our citizens. God bless.”
