A total of 47 Texans died from COVID-19 on June 25, bringing the statewide total to 2,296. A total of 74,496 people in Texas have recovered from COVID-19.
Texas reported a total of 4,739 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 on June 25, 2020, pressing its hospital capacity to capacity in many communities such as San Antonio, Houston, Austin, Laredo, Dallas, and others.
While Governor Greg Abbott publicly touts that Texas has sufficient hospital beds to handle the surge of COVID-19 cases, many hospital administrators and public health experts are privately expressing serious reservations about the current surge of cases will overwhelm the Texas health care system. The number of positive COVID-19 cases have been increasing in Texas since the Memorial Day weekend holiday in May 2020.
