C. Winn High School on June 8 or suspend them until July 6 in order to protect the student-athletes and coaches from becoming infected with the deadly virus.
EPISD Superintendent Mijares stated at the June 18 press conference that the he had decided to suspend “all football workouts until July 6.”
Mijares did not specify, nor did any of the news media present questioned him, whether he was only suspending football workouts or all of the summer athletics strength and conditioning programs for all sports as well as for marching bands. From the press conference, Mijares appeared to state that he was suspending all summer athletics and marching band programs until July 6.
EPISD student-athletes and parents having any questions regarding Mijares’ decision to suspend all football workouts until July 6 should contact their respective campus athletic administrators, Eric Villasenor at C.C. Winn High School and Tom Gonzalaz at Eagle Pass High School, while marching band students and parents should likewise contact the band director of each respective high school.
