Early Voting Kicks-Off Today, June 29 through July 10 for Texas Primary Run-Off Election of July 14

Maverick County, Texas registered voters kicked-off the early voting period, June 29 through July 10, today for both the Democratic and Republican Parties Primary Run-Off Election on July 14, 2020 at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center, located at 480 South Adams Street, in downtown Eagle Pass.
The Democratic Party has several key races that local voters may cast their ballots to determine who will represent the Party in the November 3, 2020 General Election, including the United States Senate Run-Off between State Senator Royce West and Mary “MJ” Hegar, the Railroad Commission of Texas Run-Off between Roberto R. “Beto” Alonzo and Chrysta Castaneda, the State Senate District 19 Run-Off between Xochil Pena-Rodriguez and Roland Gutierrez, the Maverick County Constable Precinct No. 1 Run-Off between incumbent Rudy Valdez and Oscar Ramos, Maverick County Constable Precinct No. 2 between Alberto De La Torre and Denise Cantu, and Maverick County Constable Precinct No. 4 between Joe “Mike” Beattie and Hector “Big Rod” Rodriguez.
On the Republican Party side, there is one key race for the 23rd United States House of Representatives Seat between Raul Reyes and Tony Gonzales. The winner will challenge Democratic Party nominee, Gina Ortiz Jones, in the November 3rd general election to replace Will Hurd, who did not seek re-election.
The winner of the Democratic Party U.S. Senate Run-Off Election between State Senator Royce West and Mary “MJ” Hegar will challenge Senator John Cornyn in the November 3rd election.
In the Democratic Party Run-Off Election for State Senate District 19 between Xochil Pena-Rodriguez and Roland Gutierrez, the winner will challenge State Senator Pete Flores in the November 3rd election.
Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson Juanita V. Martinez encourages all Democrats in Maverick County to come out and vote for the candidates of their choice. Martinez added that one’s vote does make a difference in every race being contested on the ballot.
Maverick County Republican Party Chairman Alfredo Arellano invites all Republicans to take the time to cast their vote in the key Congressional race between Raul Reyes and Tony Gonzales.
The Early Voting Period during June 29 through July 10 will present a historic change for Maverick County voters as it will be the first election administered under the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Voters are encouraged to wear a mask to the polling place at the Multi-Purpose Center, although the state of Texas does not require one. Any voter requiring assistance voting will be provided to them by the election clerks.
