The national non-profit organization ‘Run for Something’ announced that they have endorsed Eagle Passan Elias Diaz for the City of Eagle Pass City Council Place 2 seat in the upcoming September 5, 2020 Run-Off Election.
In the initial February 1, 2020 City Council Special City Officers Election, Elias Diaz received 1,804 votes (42.8%) compared to Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza’s 1,766 votes (41.96%) and Frank “Franky” Sanchez’s 639 (15.18%) votes. Since neither candidate received a 50.1% majority vote, a Run-Off Election was originally called for May 5, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic was rescheduled to September 5, 2020 between the two top vote getters, Elias Diaz and Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza.
The City of Eagle Pass City Council Place 2 run-off election will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center, located at 480 South Adams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas during 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.
The Early Voting period will commence on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 and run through Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center.
‘Run for Something’ helps “to recruit and support young diverse progressives to run for down-ballot races in order to build a bench for the future—folks…[who] could be possible members of the House, Senate, and maybe even President one day.”
This is Diaz’s fourth endorsement from a national non-profit organization in his bid for the Eagle Pass City Council Place 2 election.
