Due to the exposure of 293rd Judicial District Attorney Office personnel to a Maverick County inmate who tested positive for COVID-19 at a Court hearing in the 365th Judicial District Court on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, District Attorney Roberto Serna announced that the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office located at 458 Madison Street, Eagle Pass, Texas will be closed on Wednesday, August 5, for a preventive COVID-19 disinfection of the office.
Serna issued a press release on August 5, 2020 stating that “the Office of the District Attorney has been put in a situation due to the COVID-19 where a hard deep cleaning of the office is necessary for the health and safety of all employees and visitors. We have been advised to not enter the building until Thursday, August 6. Accordingly, we will all be working from home on Wednesday, August 5. We will all be on our cell phones so you can contact us via telephone should the need arise.”
As a result of the July 29, 2020 incident where District Attorney Office personnel were exposed to a confirmed positive COVID-19 inmate from the Tom Bowles Detention Center at a Court hearing in Eagle Pass, Texas, the District Attorney Office personnel have had to submit to a COVID-19 test as a precautionary measure.
Serna added that “we are not going to risk our health or life or anyone else.” “This COVID-19 can kill you,” said Serna. “I have to be responsible and do the right thing for my employees’ health and safety,” added Serna.
Serna advised the public that the District Attorney’s Office, located at 458 Madison Street, in Eagle Pass will reopen on Thursday, August 6, 2020.
