One Additional Maverick County Citizen Died from COVID-19 and 27 New Confirmed Positive COVID-19 Cases Reported on September 15, 2020, Bringing Cumulative Total to 119 Deaths and 3,598 Cases

Sadly, one additional Maverick County citizen died due to COVID-19 and 27 new confirmed positive COVID-19 cases were reported on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 by Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo at the joint City of Eagle Pass and Maverick County COVID-19 Press Conference, bringing the cumulative total to 119 deaths and 3,598 cases.
County Judge Saucedo stated a total of 17,553 people in Maverick County have had a COVID-19 test administered with 3,598 positive results, 13,627 negative results, 328 pending results, 348 active cases, 3,131 recovered people, 119 deaths, 24 people are currently hospitalized locally, and the positivity rate dipped slightly to 20%, which is still very high.
Saucedo noted the one death reported was a female of 66 years of age who passed away on September 1, 2020, but delayed reported until September 15. He added that of the 27 people hospitalized at the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center, 6 are in Intensive Care Unit, 17 in the Medical Floor, one in Post-Partum, and 7 are on ventilators.
Saucedo highlighted that Maverick County and the City of Eagle Pass are working with state and federal authorities to host a free flu vaccine program in the immediate future for all Maverick County residents who want to participate in.
Saucedo reminded all Maverick County residents that there will be a free COVID-19 food distribution sponsored by the South Texas Food Bank on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 9:30 A.M. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activity Center, located at 277 U.S. Highway South in Eagle Pass, Texas. All participants must bring an Identification and clear their trunk in their vehicles so volunteers may place the food inside the vehicle.
Texas reported 132 new deaths due to COVID-19 and 4,816 new confirmed positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, bringing the cumulative total to 14,343 deaths and 668,746 cases.
Nationally, the United States reported 1,287 new COVID-19 deaths and 39,224 new confirmed positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, bringing the cumulative total to 195,600 deaths due to COVID-19 and 6,614,100 cases.
