AIDS UNITED Selects Elias Diaz for National Think Tank to Address HIV Pandemic

(Press Release) Eagle Pass, TX – AIDS UNITED has selected Elias Diaz, LMFT as one of 10 contributing experts to collaborate in developing a recommendation and plan that will guide how communities apply for and receive funding to address the HIV epidemic in the Hispanic community.

“We are very excited for [Elias Diaz] to be an integral part of this historic time as we plan together in the LPOP Think Tank where we share and shape those vital aspects needed to make this pilot a success for our traditionally marginalized and underserved communities to improve and achieve their viral suppression and overall health outcomes,” said Julio Fonseca, Senior Program Manager at AIDS United. “His lived experience combined with his work and volunteering in the HIV Treatment and Prevention field for many years makes him an expert.”

The LPOP Think Tank will take place over three days – October 28, 29 and 30. Experts from across the country will advocate for their region and make recommendations based on the specific needs of their Hispanic communities.

Elias Diaz added, “I am committed to fighting for Eagle Pass and rural communities across the United States. Communities in rural areas deserve as much funding and attention as metropolitan areas. I have worked very hard to implement HIV prevention in this community and advocate for funding that can ensure that the people that need it the most are receiving what they need.”
