Eagle Pass Eagles Battle Laredo LBJ Wolves in 2020 District 29-6A Football Season Opener on October 22, 2020 at Laredo

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles will battle the Laredo LBJ High School Wolves in the 2020 District 29-6A football season opener on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 7 P.M. at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Activity Complex.
The Eagles players have been training and working out diligently to prepare for this season opening game and enthusiasm is running high, said Eagle Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez.
The Eagles will face a much improved LBJ Wolves team tonight under Head Football Coach Alfonso Calderon.
The Eagles defeated the Wolves 36-10 in last year’s District 29-6A matchup.
Tonight’s game is the inaugural game of the 2020 football season for both teams.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 season has been shortened to a six game District 29-6A schedule instead of the regular 10 games.
The Eagles will feature returning running back TJ Mares, quarterback Jacob Ruiz, and wide receivers Dakota Kypuros, CGC Ritchie, and Carlos Ruiz on offense while senior linebacker Charlie Schuessler will anchor the defensive unit.
Other Eagles on offense include Laro Villarreal as running back, OJ Ruiz and Isaac Stanwick as wide receivers, center Juan De Leon, guards Emmanuel Balderas and Mike Perez, and tackles Arnie Perez and Alfredo Guevara.
On defense, the Eagles also have defensive linemen Tommy Cantu, Javi Santos, and Derek Ruiz, defensive ends Eric Lara and Nathan Aguilera, linebackers Uriel Martinez, Victor Chavez, and Eduardo Sepulveda, and defensive backs Mando De Los Santos, CJ Hiller, Beto Santos, and Ray Rodriguez.
The Wolves will feature senior quarterback Alex Lucio and multi-talented Luis Segura on offense tonight.
Every game is important in District 29-6A. The Eagles will seek to start the 2020 season with a victory over the Wolves tonight in Laredo. The Eagles quest is to win the District 29-6A Championship, or, at least make the state playoffs.
