Election Vote Recount for Maverick County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 Confirms November 3, 2020 Board Election Results

Maverick County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 incumbent Board member Juan Manuel Garcia, Jr.’s petition for a vote recount of the November 3, 2020 Board Election results was heard on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 9 a.m. at the 293rd Judicial District Courtroom, 500 Quarry Street, Eagle Pass, Texas under Recount Supervisor and Maverick County Elections Administrator Roy Schmerber watchful eyes and administration, confirming the same vote tallies for each candidate as on Election Day on November 3rd.
Recount Supervisor Roy Schmerber in an exclusive interview with the Eagle Pass Business Journal stated that the results of the Recount Petition, requested by MCWCID No. 1 incumbent Board member Juan Manuel Garcia, Jr., confirmed that candidate Randy Edwards received 93 votes, incumbent Board member Juan Perez, Jr. received 78 votes, candidate Gabriel De La Cerda received 69 votes, Juan Manuel Garcia, Jr. received 68 votes, and candidate Rodolfo Garza, Jr. received 63 votes.
Edwards, Perez, and De La Cerda were elected to a four year term on the MCWCID No. 1 Board of Directors by virtue of being the top three vote getters in the November 3, 2020 election.
Juan Manuel Garcia, Jr. and Rodolfo Garza, Jr. were eliminated. Garcia lost his bid for re-election by only one vote with 68 votes in his favor while third-place finisher Gabriel De La Cerda edged him out with 69 votes.
The three newly-elected MCWCID No. 1 Board members will be sworn-in at the regular Board meeting scheduled on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 5 p.m. at the District Office, 1622 Maverick Industrial Park Road, Eagle Pass, Texas.
