Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks Battle San Antonio Lanier Voks in 2020 Bi-District Football Championship

The thundering Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Mavericks will battle District 13-5A, Division I Champion San Antonio Lanier High School Voks in the 2020 Texas U.I.L. 5A, Division I Bi-District Football Championship on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Independent School District Alamo Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
The Mavericks enter the Bi-District Championship game with an overall season record of 4-2 representing District 14-5A, Division I while the Lanier Voks sport an overall season mark of 4-1 representing District 13-5A, Division I.
The Mavericks explosive offense is led by standout dual threat quarterback Jose Padilla accompanied by running backs Ethan Cazares and Carlos Soto, wide receivers Michael Olivo, Abdiel Cardona, and Eric Martinez, slot receivers Joe Garza and Mario Olivo, tight end Edgardo Sanchez, guards Jimmy Joe Lopez and Jose Reyes, tackles Jose Anzures and Alejandro Oviedo, and place kicker/punter Emanuel Oviedo.
On defense, the Mavericks are led by linebackers Noe Castillon, Lee Roy Alvarez, JP Ramos, and Jeremiah Robinson, defensive tackles Angel Rosales, Rey Flores, Domingo Fuentes, and Juan Estrada, defensive ends Alejandro Alferes and Victor Alonzo, cornerbacks Argenis Gonzalez and Angel De La Torre, and safeties Joey Aguilar and Ty Velasquez.
The Lanier Voks offense is led by dual-threat quarterback Fabian Maciel who accounts for 75% of the Voks total offense. The Mavericks defense will have to stop Voks quarterback Fabian Maciel to stifle the Voks from scoring. Maciel is a two-way player for the Voks as he also is a linebacker on defense.
Mavericks Head Football Coach Eric Villasenor stated the Mavericks’ players are excited and prepared for the Bi-District matchup with the Lanier Voks. Villasenor added the Mavericks have been working hard and preparing all season long for the state playoffs.
The Bi-District Championship game between the Mavericks and Lanier Voks promises to be highly competitive and entertaining. All loyal Maverick Nation aficionados are encouraged to attend the playoff game at San Antonio’s historic Alamo Stadium.
