Location, Date: – Zan Matthies Show Barn, January 23, 2021, 11:00 a.m.
(Press Release) Amidst a global pandemic, Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Association, working in close cooperation with the City of Eagle Pass, Maverick County, and the Emergency Operations Center, was able to pull off a successful show and auction for the exhibitors. The event was stretched out over the course of a full week, a big change from prior shows, in an effort to keep crowds down and maintain social distancing.
The event concluded on Saturday, January 23, 2021 with a great turnout from the faithful MCJLS contributors, with total contributions exceeding $350,000 dollars. Due to safety protocol, the auction looked very different for contributors this year, with online bidding, livestream video feeds and socially distanced setup for the contributors. This year’s Top Ten Buyers were no strangers to the program and have been loyal supporters for many years.
Leading the charge as the Top Buyer for the 2021 Auction, was Jimmy and Mabel Neutze with Minit Mart Convenience Stores. The Neutze family continued on their streak as the Top Buyer at the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Auction.
Mr. Rodney Winn with Ancira Eagle Pass was at the heels of Minit Mart Convenience Stores garnering the spot as 2nd Top Buyer, followed by Morris & Dora Libson & Family, coming in at Number 3. Ancira Eagle Pass and the Libson Family have been on the Top 10 Buyers list for many years.
Brown Chevrolet worked hard at the auction to make sure all exhibitors were rewarded for their hard work, coming in at 4th Top Buyer for the 2021 Auction, holding on to its long standing history of supporting the youth of Maverick County. Rounding out the Top Five were Victor and Sonia Perry from the Law Office of Victor E. Perry and very close behind as 6th Top Buyer was Marco Salinas, Rolando Salinas and Claudio Heredia with Knickerbocker, Heredia, Salinas & Salinas law firm.
The 2021 MCJLS show was dedicated to Frank & Adele Junfin and family for their loyal support to the youth of our community. Holding true to their lifelong support of the program, the Junfin Family came in as 7th Top Buyer.
H.E.B. showed its continued support for MCJLS and came in as 8th Top Buyer for the 2021 show. Rounding out the Top 10 Buyer list was Chris and Magaly Hiller with A.E. Hiller and Sons and Jeremy Peters with Cotulla Ranches. The Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Association would like to thank all of the contributors that made this year’s auction a success. It is a true testament to our community that we are still able to come together for the youth of our community even in trying times like we are in now.
