United Medical Centers (UMC) Chief Executive Officer William Worrell announced that the federally qualified health center is hosting its first COVID-19 Vaccine mass distribution program on Friday, February 26, 2021, at 9 a.m. at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade, located at 3295 Bob Rogers Drive, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
UMC was selected as one of 25 federally qualified health centers in the United States for a COVID-19 Vaccine distribution program by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under President Joe Biden’s plan to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine in a fair and equitable manner to all residents of the United States, particularly to Community Health Centers that specialize in caring for disproportionately affected populations.
UMC is a community-based and patient directed health center that delivers affordable, accessible, quality, and cost-effective primary health care to medically underserved communities and disproportionately affected populations, including high need rural and frontier communities in Texas.
UMC will be receiving and administering up to 1,000 COVID-19 vaccines per week. These joint HRSA and CDC COVID-19 supplied vaccines are in addition to and separately independent from the COVID-19 vaccines being administered by the Maverick County Emergency Operations Center, said Worrell.
President Biden and his Administration are providing these COVID-19 vaccines for community health centers such as UMC as a way to increase access to vaccines for health centers serving the nation’s underserved communities and disproportionately affected populations.
UMC will follow the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) priority COVID-19 vaccine guidelines in administering these vaccines.
To register for the UMC COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Program, all interested persons must register at UMC’s website at www.umchealth.com or Facebook Page at United Medical Centers.
When registering, please select whether you are a new or current patient. Please fill-out all required fields (questions) in the form and submit it.
If you are an existing UMC patient, use the link: COVID-19 Vaccine Registration Form – Eagle Pass. If you are a new patient, use the link: New Patient COVID-19 Vaccine Registration Form – Eagle Pass.
Once submitted, UMC staff will book (schedule) your appointment and you will receive a text message to your cell phone with your appointment time and date.
Please do not call the UMC clinic directly, staff will be unable to answer COVID-19 vaccine questions related to the appointment time, place in line, and other questions.
All Maverick County residents may register with UMC to participate in its COVID-19 vaccine distribution program, regardless whether one is a patient of UMC.
Maverick County residents are very fortunate that UMC was selected as one of 25 federally qualified health centers in the nation to distribute and administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
UMC’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution program is independent and completely separate from the existing Maverick County Emergency Operations Center COVID-19 vaccine program. Now Maverick County residents have two programs from which to register and have administered the COVID-19 vaccine.
All Maverick County residents are encouraged to register and participate in either the UMC COVID-19 vaccine program or the Maverick County Emergency Operations Center program. What is important is that all local residents get the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves and families from the deadly COVID-19 virus.
