Maverick County EOC to Administer 1,200 Second Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine on Saturday, March 6, 2021

The Maverick County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) announced that it is hosting a mass distribution program of second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade (ICT), located at 3295 Bob Rogers Drive, Eagle Pass, Texas.
The March 6th Vaccination Program is for people who initially were scheduled to receive their second doses on February 24, 25, and 26 but were delayed due to the Winter Storm. All people scheduled for their March 6th second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine have been contacted by EOC staff by telephone.
A total of 1,200 COVID-19 vaccine second doses will be administered on Saturday, March 6th, to Maverick County residents, announced Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo.
County Judge Saucedo noted that EOC also administered another 1,200 COVID-19 vaccine first doses on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, to local residents.
Saucedo also announced that the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) will be sending additional COVID-19 vaccines to the Maverick County Hospital District and Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center. DSHS is shipping 500 COVID-19 vaccines made by Johnson and Johnson, which are a single dose only, to Maverick County Hospital District and another 100 vaccines to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center. These new 600 Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines will be administered by the Maverick County Hospital District and Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center at their facilities.
All Maverick County residents who qualify to receive a COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to register with the Maverick County EOC through the websites of the City of Eagle Pass and Maverick County. Local residents can also receive the new single dose Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine by registering with the Maverick County Hospital District and Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center.
In addition to these 1,800 COVID-19 vaccines, the United Medical Centers (UMC) was awarded 1,000 vaccines per week by the HRSA and CDC mass distribution program for up to a period of five weeks, making it a total of at least 2,800 COVID-19 vaccines per week available to Maverick County residents.
Not included in this figure are additional vaccines being awarded to pharmacies at H.E.B. and Walgreen’s. Local residents may also register with these pharmacies to get their COVID-19 vaccine.
President Joe Biden and his administration have made their top priority to get 100 million Americans vaccinated by May 2021 and every American by this summer. Maverick County residents are encouraged to participate in these COVID-19 vaccination programs available in the community.
