Maverick County Hospital District Re-Starts Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccines

Maverick County Hospital District’s (MCHD) Primary Care Clinic announced at a press conference held on Thursday, April 29, 2021, that it had received a new supply of 300 Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccines from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) for distribution among Maverick County patients.
MCHD Primary Care Clinic Director Eric Rodriguez and Physician Assistant Isela Segura announced that any Maverick County person wishing to take the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine may make an appointment with their clinic at (830) 757-4900. Segura noted that the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is only a single shot and does not require a second shot like other vaccines. Segura added that the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) had cleared the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine after a pause to evaluate some blood clotting issues among 15 patients out of over 8 million vaccines administered.
In addition to the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. Segura noted that the MCHD Primary Care Clinic had also received an allocation of 300 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. These vaccines will be administered on a first come, first served basis. To get one, people need to make an appointment at the Primary Care Clinic at (830) 757-4900 or 757-4901.
MCHD Primary Care Clinic Director Eric Rodriguez noted that demand for the COVID-19 vaccine at their clinic has decreased due to multiple places in the community offering the vaccine. Rodriguez encouraged all Maverick County residents to get a COVID-19 vaccine at the Primary Care Clinic or at one of the other clinics in the community offering the vaccine.
Rodriguez and Segura confirmed that the MCHD Primary Care Clinic will administer its share of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines on a first come, first-served basis. Please call the Primary Care Clinic at (830) 757-4900 or 757-2701 to make an appointment.
