Eagle Pass Eagles Face Harlingen Cardinals in Area Baseball Championship during May 14-15

The high-flying Eagle Pass High School Eagles Baseball Team under the direction of Head Coach Reynol Mendoza earned the right to face the Harlingen High School Cardinals in a best of three Area Championship during May 14-15, 2021 by virtue of their sweep of the San Antonio O’Connor Panthers in the Bi-District Championship last week.
In Game 1 against the San Antonio O’Connor Panthers on May 7, Eagles ace pitcher Sergio “Checo” Lopez hurled a historic no-hitter against the mighty Panthers to earn a 4-0 win.
In Game 2 against the San Antonio O’Connor Panthers on May 8, Eagles ace pitcher Eduardo Mendoza tossed a one-hitter to muzzle the Panthers 4-0 for the win, clinching the Bi-District Championship.
The Eagles will face District 32-6A Champion Harlingen Cardinals in the best of three Area Championship series during May 14-15, 2021. The Eagles sport a 16-8 overall season record while the Cardinals own a 19-6-1 overall season mark. The Eagles Area playoff series against the Harlingen Cardinals is expected to be a pitching duel between two outstanding pitching corps and timely hits will decide the series.
The Eagles Area Championship series starts with Game 1 on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the San Antonio Northside Independent School District Baseball Complex Field No. 1 in San Antonio, Texas. Game 2 is on Saturday, May 15, at 2 p.m. at San Antonio Northside ISD Baseball Complex Field No. 1. Game 3, if necessary, will be 30 minutes following Game 2.
