Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks Pitcher Robert De La Garza Named 2021 District 28-5A Baseball Most Valuable Player, 10 Mavericks Earn All-District Honors

Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Mavericks Baseball Head Coach Heriberto Roiz announced that a total of 10 Mavericks earned 2021 District 28-5A Baseball All-District honors, including Mavericks pitcher Robert De La Garza was named the Most Valuable Player for his outstanding performance as a pitcher and hitting in the highly competitive district during the season.
Seven Mavericks were named to the District 28-5A Baseball All-District First Team including pitcher Jacob Salinas (unanimous), second baseman Izek Garza (unanimous), third baseman J.P. Ramos, catcher Jorge Saucedo, outfielder Alan R. Jimenez (unanimous), shortstop Alan Vielma (unanimous), and designated hitter Rey Esquivel.
Two Mavericks were named to the District 28-5A Baseball All-District Second Team including outfielder Manny Melchor and first baseman Efrain Estrada.
The Winn Mavericks clinched the 2021 District 28-5A Baseball Championship with an impressive 13-1 district record and went on to garnering a Bi-District Championship against the San Anotnio Burbank Bulldogs before falling to the Alamo Heights Mules in the Area Championship. The Mavericks enjoyed an outstanding 2021 baseball season under the helm of Head Coach Heriberto Roiz, finishing the season with an overall record of 21-4.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal congratulates all the Winn Mavericks Baseball Team players who were named to the 2021 District 28-5A All-District Team and wishes them all the best in their future athletic and academic endeavors.
