U.S. Army Soldier from Fort Hood, Texas Arrested for Transporting Undocumented Immigrants

The Edwards County Sheriff’s Department announced that a Fort Hood, Texas U.S. Army soldier was arrested on July 26, 2021 for transporting four undocumented immigrants in a gray Nissan Altima.
According to the Edwards Sheriff’s Department, an Edwards County Sheriff’s Deputy earlier that day had stopped the soldier from Fort Hood. “While interviewing him, the Deputy determined that he was in the area to pick-up [undocumented immigrants].”
The Edwards County Sheriff’s Deputy passed on this information to its law enforcement partners in the surrounding counties. A few hours later, the soldier was stopped on U.S. Highway 277 near Del Rio in Val Verde County, Texas and arrested with four undocumented immigrants in his vehicle.
The U.S. Army soldier faces up to a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted of transporting undocumented immigrants as well as being dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
