Over 6,000 Migrants Living Under City of Del Rio International Bridge, Says Mayor Bruno Lozano

The City of Del Rio, Texas Mayor Bruno Lozano stated on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in a press release that over 6,000 migrants are currently living underneath the Del Rio International Bridge on the banks of the Rio Grande River.
Mayor Lozano stated “the City of Del Rio is aware of the escalated situation under the Del Rio International Bridge with the growing influx of migrants in Del Rio over the last couple of days. The Mayor’s Office and the City of Del Rio and Val Verde County are working in collaboration with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the United States Department of Homeland Security, as well as state and federal consultants to to demand additional manpower and resources into the Del Rio Border Patrol Sector.”
Mayor Lozano added that “nearly 6,000 migrants await detention underneath the Del Rio International Bridge as of 3 p.m., September 15, 2021. Border Patrol continues its efforts to detain and process migrants. The City of Del Rio will continue to release information about this crisis as it is provided.”
Mayor Lozano noted that according to sources, there are an additional 20,000 migrants are enroute from Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico to Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila and Del Rio, Texas.
Mayor Lozano noted the humanitarian crisis developing at the Del Rio and Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila border due to the continuous arrival of migrants seeking asylum in the United States.
Many of the over 6,000 migrants now living underneath the Del Rio International Bridge are from Haiti as well as from many different countries.
The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is extremely busy and overwhelmed detaining the migrants underneath the Del Rio International Bridge while another 20,000 are believed to be arriving within a day or two from other cities in Mexico.
