In Loving Memory of Miguel Alejandro Rodriguez, 1966-2022
Our merciful Lord has called his son Miguel Alejandro Rodriguez (1966-2022), 56 years old, to rejoice in eternal life. Miguel was an ordinary man who accomplished extraordinary achievements.
He was the proud son of Miguel V. Rodriguez (El Tigere) and Enriqueta Chaires de Rodriguez, the oldest brother of Dr. Claudia R. Wright, Dr. Jesus R. Rodriguez, Nilda I. Rueda, and the loving father of Samantha, Illeana, & Miguel Rodriguez.
Miguel was devoted to our Father and Savior Jesus Christ, serving as an altar boy throughout his secondary school years at Our Lady of Lourdes in Seco Mines. Miguel attended Roman Catholic Youth Group Retreats and was also a member of the men’s ACTS retreat. He was also an extraordinary athlete who won all his boxing bouts by knockouts and was named Texas Golden Glove Champ in his weight division at the tender age of 17.
Miguel graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1984. He continued his education at Southwest Texas Junior College, one of the top ten colleges in the nation. He graduated with an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice in 1987 and his Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Corrections from the top Criminal Justice College in the country-Sam Houston State University in 1989.
While a student at Sam Houston, he worked at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division in Hunstville, Texas, serving as a Correctional Officer to help pay for his education. He then continued his career path at the TDCJ-Travis County Community Justice Assistance Division as an Adult Probation Officer. He culminated his career as a Federal Probation Officer for the United States Probation Office in Del Rio, Texas.
His professional career also included work with Texas A&M and the University of Texas-San Antonio Trio Programs, and his alma mater, Eagle Pass Independent School District.
Miguel was known to have “the eye of the tiger,” but he was also known as a good man with a big heart who possessed a great personality. His beautiful smile demonstrated a tender, caring, and friendly demeanor to his loved ones and intimate friends always with opened arms.
