Alan Vielma Named 2022 District 28-5A Baseball Most Valuable Player, 11 Winn Mavericks Receive All-District Honors

Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Mavericks Head Baseball Coach Heriberto Roiz announced that 11 Mavericks received 2022 District 28-5A All-District Baseball honors, including junior standout pitcher Alan Vielma was named the Most Valuable Player by all the district head baseball coaches-the highest award in district.
The Mavericks enjoyed a school history best overall baseball season record of 29-4 during 2022 and earned back to back District 28-5A Championships, Bi-District Championship, and Area Finalist.
Also named to the 2022 District 28-5A All-District First Team by unanimous vote of the district head baseball coaches are pitcher Roly Jimenez, outfielder Manny Melchor, first baseman Efrain Estrada, second baseman Oscar Cavazos, third baseman J. P. Ramos, catcher Jorge Saucedo, and designated hitter Dante Leija.
Named to the 2022 District 28-5A All-District Second Team are pitcher Apolonio Delgado, outfielder Juanito Martinez, and second baseman Jared Salinas.
Coach Roiz stated these players are deserving of the All-District recognition they have received through hard work, dedication, purpose, and attitude to improve daily while maintaining a team first mentality.
Coach Roiz added that these young men have worked either three or four years in developing the Mavericks Baseball Program at Winn High School and have set a high standard for current and future athletes seeking to play for and wear the silver and black Mavericks school colors.
The Mavericks back to back District 28-5A Baseball Championships are also a first in school history, noted Roiz.
Through dedication, purpose, and a positive attitude these players have elevated the Mavericks Baseball Program among the elite high school programs in Texas.
