Eagle Pass-Maverick County Economic Development Alliance (EPMCEDA) Executive Director Judith A. Canales announced the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Survey of U. S. Highway 57 will solicit input from local businesses and individuals in a presentation by Paul S. Truban, Project Manager of the Transportation Planning and Programing Division of TxDOT on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the general membership meeting of the Alliance at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade, 3295 Bob Rogers Drive, Eagle Pass, Texas.
Canales also highlighted a special presentation on “Financing Eagle Pass Small Businesses” will be presented by Rosa Rios Valdez, Chief Executive Officer of BCL of Texas, at the same meeting.
The need for expansion of U. S. Highway 57 into a four-lane highway or interstate from Eagle Pass to Interstate 35 (98 miles) is extremely critical, and long overdue, for the significant economic development and growth facing the State of Texas in the immediate international trade from the USMCTA and the Asia-Pacific Rim region through the Port of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico through overland highways to the states of Sinaloa, Durango, and Coahuila to the Texas-Mexico border at Eagle Pass and Del Rio, Texas.
The expected international trade growth at the Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras, Coahuila Port of Entry in the next 30 years is estimated to grow from $33.8 Billion to over $700 Billion. Texas needs to value and invest in the expansion of U. S. Highway 57 if it wishes to capture the phenomenal trade growth coming to the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
Another key component of the expected growth to the Eagle Pass community is the growth and development of existing and new businesses. Financing of existing and new businesses’ growth is critical to a prosperous future and enhanced quality of life.
Canales noted these two presentations are important to all Eagle Pass and Maverick County businesses, entities, and citizens and are a must hear for all Alliance members and concerned citizens interested in the economic development and growth of the community.
In addition to these special presentations, the EPMCEDA general membership meeting will hear Committee reports from all standing committees and their current projects and status reports.
All Eagle Pass and Maverick County businesses and concerned individuals are invited to attend the October 12, 2022 meeting as well as joining the EPMCEDA.
