2023 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Dedicated to Morris and Dora Libson

The 2023 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show was dedicated in honor of Eagle Passans Morris and Dora Libson for their extraordinary dedication and support of the MCJLS and youth of Maverick County for many years, Roberto Martinez, President of the MCJLS Association, said.
“Morris and Dora Libson have participated at the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Auction dating back to the old Fort Duncan event location. Their devotion, passion, leadership and friendship is exceptional,” Martinez added.
In recent years, Morris and Dora Libson have served the MCJLS as buyers and corporate sponsors of the annual event, including perennially listed among the Top 10 Buyers at the MCJLS Sale.
Morris and Dora Libson graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1973. Morris graduated from Texas A & M University-College Station with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1977. While at Texas A & M University, Morris was a distinguished member of the Corps of Cadets and served as Executive Officer Cadet Major. He later earned a Master of Business Administration in 1982. Dora graduated from Sul Ross State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Teacher Certification and later earned a Master of Education in Counseling from Sul Ross State University.
Morris currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of CONAGAS, the natura gas distributor in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; President of the Piedras Negras Economic Development Council; President of the Eagle Pass-Maverick County Economic Development Alliance; and in many local boards in organizations in both Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila.
Dora first worked at a local Pediatric Clinic and later joined the Eagle Pass Independent School District for over 30 years before retiring as a school counselor/administrator. Dora has volunteered in numerous non-profit organizations in Eagle Pass, including Babe Ruth Baseball and Babe Ruth Softball.
Morris and Dora Libson have three children, Morris III, Veronika, and Nicholas, whom they raised and educated in Eagle Pass. All three graduated from college and have successful careers.
Morris and Dora Libson have been presented numerous community service awards during their 45 years of marriage, including Citizens of the Year by the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce, Ambassadors of Goodwill by Maverick County, and Morris was inducted into the Babe Ruth Baseball Hall of Fame recently.
In honor of Morris and Dora Libson’s dedication and commitment to promoting the youth in Maverick County, the cities of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and their extraordinary contributions and passion for improving the quality of life, educational opportunities, and prosperity in the twin cities of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, the 2023 MCJLS was dedicated in their names.
