One Suspect Arrested in Aggravated Robbery of Video Game Room in Maverick County, Texas
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber announced at a press conference on Friday, January 27, 2023, that one suspect has been arrested by the Sheriff’s Department Detectives for an alleged aggravated armed robbery of a video game room called “Mi Casa Game Room” located on El Indio Highway in Eagle Pass, Texas on or about Thursday, January 26, 2023.
Schmerber stated a male individual walked into the video game room and fired a shot into the ceiling of the business establishment with patrons inside and demanded to be given money. Employees of the video game room gave a bag full of money to the suspect with approximately $1,500 to $2,000 and the suspect left the game room.
The Maverick County Sheriff Department received an emergency call concerning the incident and immediately responded to the video game room location on El Indio Highway. Upon arriving, Maverick County Sheriff Deputies swung into action investigating and interviewing witnesses and reviewing the business’s video surveillance tapes in order to identify the armed robber.
One male individual matching the description of the alleged armed robber was located outside the video game room and was arrested for allegedly committing an aggravated armed robbery.
Sheriff Schmerber stated the individual arrested is under investigation and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court at law.
Sheriff Schmerber stated that Maverick County residents should be careful and cautious wherever they go and do because there are many people now carrying or possessing firearms in the State of Texas after passage of open carry of firearms law in Texas. Schmerber noted open carry has made the job of all law enforcement officers more dangerous today.
The case of the armed robbery of the video game room is under investigation.
