American Patriot and Vietnam War Veteran Daniel Salinas Passes Away at Age 68

American Patriot and Vietnam War Veteran Daniel Salinas went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in Eagle Pass, Texas with his wife, Melissa Alvarado Salinas, by his side.
Daniel was born on June 11, 1955 in Waco, Texas to Martin and Matilda Salinas, being one of 10 children.
Daniel graduated from high school in Waco, Texas and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Marines in 1972.
Daniel served six years in the United States Marines from 1972 to 1978, including several tours in the Vietnam War before his honorable discharge from the United States Military Service. He remained loyal and dedicated to his country, United States, and the United States Marines. He was a genuine American Patriot surviving combat service in the Vietnam War. He was granted full United States Veterans Administration Disability in 2014.
Daniel loved his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and participating in family cook outs and reunions, particularly during the holidays. His hobbies included traveling, buying and selling antiques, listening to music, dancing, cooking out, and watching movies.
After his military service, Daniel worked as a Correctional Officer at a federal institution, commercial truck driver, and returned as a Correctional Officer (Sergeant) in McLennan County in Waco, Texas and the Maverick County Tom Bowles Detention Center in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Daniel was a “very loving and caring husband. He enjoyed family time and visiting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all his family, co-workers, and friends,” said his wife, Melissa Alvarado Salinas.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melissa Alavardo Salinas of Eagle Pass, Texas; two Sons: Danny Salinas (Ida) and Alexander Salinas; three Daughters: Melissa Hamon (Kevin), Sybil Sedillo (Rick), and Baretta Mosqueda (Eric); one Sister: Carol Garcia; four Brothers: Martin Salinas (Melida), Roberto Salinas (Nora), Melton Salinas, and Ernie Salinas (Elaine); 20 beautiful grandchildren; and 18 lovely great-grandchildren.
Daniel was preceded in death by his Parents: Martin and Matilda Salinas; two Sisters: Andrea Salinas and Flora May Torres; and two Brothers: David Salinas and Freddie Salinas.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. at Yeager-Barrera Mortuary, 1316 Del Rio Blvd., Eagle Pass, Texas 78852.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas. He will be honored with a full military funeral due to his service to his country as a United States Marine.
