Eagle Pass ISD Recognizes C. C. Winn High School Teachers for Outstanding STAAR Performance

Eagle Pass Independent School District Superintendent Samuel Mijares congratulated eight C.C. Winn High School teachers recently recognized for the outstanding performance of their students on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness.
The educators were recognized for helping students achieve strong results in U.S. History, Algebra I and Biology.

The teachers honored were Enrique Pang for U.S. History, Jackeline Amezcua for U.S. History, Lina Hernandez for Algebra I, Santiago Herrera for Biology, Kassandra Portillo for Biology, Daniel Tijerina for U.S. History, Roberto Hoffman for U.S. History and Nayeli Villarreal for Biology.

Mijares said the achievement reflects the dedication, preparation and commitment the teachers bring into their classrooms each day, along with the hard work of the students they teach, encourage and inspire.

C.C. Winn High School Principal Jesus Diaz-Wever also congratulated the educators and their students for their accomplishments. The recognition highlights the combined efforts of teachers, students, administrators and families working together to strengthen academic performance at the campus.

STAAR stands for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness. The statewide testing program measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills established in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills curriculum.

At the high school level, students take STAAR end-of-course assessments in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology and U.S. History. The results help school districts and campuses evaluate student progress, identify areas that may require additional instruction and determine whether students are meeting state academic standards.

The recognition of the C.C. Winn educators underscores the important role classroom teachers play in preparing students for the assessments while helping them develop the academic foundation needed for graduation, college, technical training and the workforce.

Eagle Pass ISD celebrated the educators and the continuing impact they are making at C.C. Winn High School.
