Eagle Pass, Texas Gasoline Prices Nearly $1 Higher Than Last Year Amid Oil Costs Skyrocketing Due to Iran War

The Iran War is causing oil costs to skyrocket on the world market, increasing the cost for a barrel of oil up to $110.

As of today, the average price for regular gasoline in Eagle Pass is approximately $3.77 per gallon, nearly $1 more than motorists paid during the same period last year.

Regular gasoline averaged approximately $2.80 per gallon in Eagle Pass during September 2025. The 97-cent difference represents a year-to-year increase of nearly 35 percent.

Motorists purchasing 20 gallons are paying about $19.40 more than they did one year ago.

Despite the substantial increase, gasoline in Eagle Pass remains slightly below the Texas average of approximately $3.85 per gallon. The local average is also about 55 cents below the national average of approximately $4.32 reported by AAA.

Higher crude-oil prices are one of the primary factors affecting the cost of gasoline. West Texas Intermediate crude oil is trading at approximately $102.50 per barrel, while Brent crude has reached approximately $107.60 per barrel.

When crude-oil prices increase, refineries and fuel distributors pay more for their supplies. Those higher costs eventually reach local gasoline stations and are reflected in the prices motorists pay at the pump.

Taxes account for 38.4 cents of every gallon of gasoline purchased in Texas. The state gasoline tax is 20 cents per gallon, while the federal tax is 18.4 cents.

At the current Eagle Pass average of $3.77, state and federal taxes represent slightly more than 10 percent of the total price.

Although Eagle Pass motorists are paying considerably more than they paid last September, the local average remains below both the Texas and national averages.
