Maverick County Hospital District to Host Blood Drive Friday, October 2

EAGLE PASS — The Maverick County Hospital District is calling on the community to help save lives by participating in a blood drive scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026.

The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. aboard a bloodmobile stationed at the Maverick County Hospital District, located at 3406 Bob Rogers Drive in Eagle Pass, Texas.

The event is being held in partnership with the South Texas Blood & Tissue Bank and provides local residents an opportunity to help maintain the blood supply needed for patients throughout the region.

Maverick County Hospital District Chief Executive Officer Nestor Bonilla said community participation in blood drives can make a meaningful difference for patients and families during some of their most difficult moments.

“When someone donates blood, they are giving something that can truly make a difference in another person’s life,” Bonilla said. “We encourage our community to come out and participate. It takes only a small amount of your time, but that donation could be there when a patient and their family need it most.”

Donated blood is needed every day for patients undergoing surgeries and medical treatments as well as those facing serious injuries and other medical emergencies.

For communities such as Eagle Pass and Maverick County, local blood drives also provide residents with a convenient opportunity to contribute directly to the regional blood supply without having to travel outside the community.

Those who donate during Friday’s event will receive a free T-shirt as part of the blood drive promotion.

Residents interested in participating can schedule an appointment by scanning the QR code provided on the event flyer.

Organizers are encouraging eligible donors to participate and help demonstrate once again how a single act of generosity can potentially help save a life.
