Mexican Consulate at Eagle Pass Launches 2026 Labor Law Week

The Consulate of Mexico at Eagle Pass, Vivian Juarez Mondragon, this week began its 2026 Semana de Derechos Laborales, or Labor Rights Week, an annual initiative aimed at educating Mexican workers and their families about their workplace rights and resources available to them in the United States.
The weeklong program, being held from August 31 through September 4, 2026 was inaugurated Monday at the Mexican Consulate in Eagle Pass under the leadership of Mexican Consul Vivian Juárez Mondragón.
A large group of community members attended the opening and informational activities, which focused on providing workers with important information regarding labor protections, wages, benefits, Social Security programs and other resources.
Semana de Derechos Laborales is an initiative carried out through Mexico’s consular network in the United States to help Mexican nationals better understand and exercise their rights in the workplace. The program also strengthens cooperation between Mexican consulates, U.S. labor agencies and organizations that assist workers.
This year’s Eagle Pass program includes several free informational sessions throughout the week.
Activities began Monday with information regarding enrollment in Mexico’s Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, or IMSS, for Mexicans living and working abroad.
On Tuesday, representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division are scheduled to provide information regarding fair wages and working hours. Additional sessions during the week will address income taxes and workers’ rights under the National Labor Relations Board.
