The Eagle Pass Support Hub’s Fall Into Hope Suicide Awareness Walk, held Thursday, September 10, 2026 was considered a great success as residents, students, local organizations and community leaders came together to promote hope, healing and mental health awareness.
Participants gathered at the Eagle Pass Public Library before walking together in a powerful public demonstration of support for individuals and families affected by suicide and mental health struggles.
Many participants carried signs with messages encouraging people not to give up, to reach out for help and to remember that they are not alone. The walk also honored those whose lives were lost to suicide while offering encouragement to survivors and families continuing to cope with their loss.
The event served as an important reminder that conversations about depression, anxiety, suicide and emotional well-being must continue beyond a single awareness walk.
Organizers emphasized the importance of recognizing warning signs, checking on loved ones and helping those in crisis connect with professional assistance.
The strong participation demonstrated the community’s willingness to stand together and help break the stigma that often prevents individuals from discussing their mental health or seeking help.
Community organizations and volunteers also shared information about available services and resources. Their participation helped connect residents with programs that can provide counseling, crisis intervention and continued emotional support.
Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of suicide is encouraged to call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The service is available around the clock and provides confidential support to individuals in need.
