The Eagle Pass Business Journal Publisher, Ricardo E. Calderon, is pleased to announce that the local community newspaper and social media forum is launching a new journalism fellowship for high school students in Eagle Pass, Texas in October 2026.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal has provided an opportunity for many young persons in Eagle Pass to learn and gain valuable experience in journalism during the past 34 years of publication.
The purpose of the new journalism fellowships is to allow local high school students interested in journalism and news media technology to gain invaluable experience and grow intellectually beyond one’s imagination and creativity. The goal is to challenge and educate young persons to learn about their community, culture, history, and how to investigate and report on diverse perspectives in society.
Eagle Pass Business Journal Fellows will be able to learn about all facets of journalism and news media technology while reporting on local, state, national, and international news events.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal is publishing news articles or opinions developed and written by local high school students. In the October 9, 2026 issue forthcoming there are two articles written by local high school students. One article is about the statewide decrease in funding for arts programs in public schools due to severe budget deficits and another article is an opinion about the constitutionality of Texas Senate Bill 10 that requires public school districts to post the 10 Commandments in classrooms.
Make sure you follow the Eagle Pass Business Journal newspaper and social media platforms to read and learn about our young people in the community.
