The Eagle Pass City Council recognized the Eagle Pass Fire Department on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 with a proclamation marking National Fire Prevention Week, observed October 4–10.
Mayor Aaron Valdez and council members presented the proclamation, honoring firefighters for their work protecting the community and promoting fire safety.
This year’s theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety. Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focuses on everyday charging habits that can reduce the risk of fires involving lithium-ion batteries.
The batteries are commonly used in phones, laptops, electric bicycles and other devices.
Valdez congratulated the department on the recognition and thanked its members for their continued commitment to fire safety, prevention and public education. The department began its 2026 fire prevention presentations Tuesday at Armando Cerna Elementary, where firefighters shared safety tips and connected with students. These programs help children learn how to recognize fire risks and respond safely in an emergency.
