Eagle Pass Independent School District Superintendent Samuel Mijares and the Eagle Pass High School cross country coaches announced that the boys varsity team won the 2026 District 30-6A championship, with Alex Alvarez earning the individual district champion title.

The Eagles advance to regional competition following a district meet that brings both team and individual honors to Eagle Pass High School.

Alvarez finishes as the boys district champion, adding an individual title to the team’s championship performance. He and his teammates now prepare to represent the school at the regional level.

Camila Davila also earns a regional berth after placing sixth in the girls competition.

Her finish gives Eagle Pass High School representation in both the boys and girls regional races.

Mijares and the cross country coaches congratulated the athletes on their accomplishments, recognizing the boys district championship, Alvarez’s individual title and Davila’s sixth-place finish.

Their announcement also encourages the regional qualifiers to continue preparing as they move into the next stage of the season.

“Let’s keep working,” the announcement states.

With the district championship secured, the Eagles turn their attention to regional competition, where the qualifying athletes will seek to extend their postseason run.
