Candles for Life founder Becky Robinson thanked Eagle Pass Junior High students and staff for raising $1,500 to support local cancer patients and invited the community to participate in the organization’s upcoming annual Walk-A-Thon.
Robinson recognized the school’s contribution in a message expressing appreciation for its support of the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts.
“The staff and students raised $1,500 for the Candles for Life Walk-A-Thon,” Robinson said. “Together we can make a BIG difference by helping the cancer patients in our community!! Mil Gracias!!”
This year’s Walk-A-Thon will be held Saturday, November 14, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the City of Eagle Pass Moncada Field Baseball Park. The event will feature the theme “Aloha for Hope,” bringing residents together to raise funds for cancer patients in Maverick County.
Candles for Life is a local nonprofit made up of volunteers who work with community members to provide financial assistance to individuals with active cancer. Funds raised through donations and community events support patients exclusively in Maverick County.
The annual Walk-A-Thon serves as the organization’s principal fundraising event.
The organization also helps eligible cancer patients who cannot afford travel expenses associated with receiving treatment.
Community contributions help sustain that assistance throughout the year.
Robinson encouraged families, students, businesses and community organizations to join the upcoming walk and support the effort to help neighbors facing cancer.
