A 20-year-old man was arrested Sunday, October 4, 2026 after allegedly threatening and assaulting his mother with scissors during a domestic altercation inside a vehicle crossing into the United States from Mexico, according to the Eagle Pass Police Department.
Police said officers responded to the 500 block of South Monroe Street on Oct. 4. The woman sustained minor lacerations, and the man allegedly stabbed the vehicle’s dashboard and center console with the scissors.
The woman left the vehicle to seek help from U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents.
Police said Luis Perez III tried to flee on foot toward Mexico but was intercepted and detained by CBP personnel. He was then taken to the Eagle Pass Police Department for processing.
Perez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
He was booked into the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 bond, with no personal recognizance bond, police said.
The case is expected to be referred to the Maverick County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
Perez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
