The Eagle Pass Police Department has announced that additional patrols will be conducted throughout the city on Saturday, October 31, 2026, as hundreds of children and families are expected to take to neighborhood streets for traditional Halloween trick-or-treating activities.
According to the department, enhanced police patrols will be conducted between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to help ensure the safety of children, parents, motorists and residents participating in Halloween celebrations.
Police officials are reminding parents and guardians to take additional precautions while accompanying children through residential neighborhoods, particularly in areas where increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic is anticipated.
Among the department’s safety recommendations are ensuring that children are accompanied by an adult, looking both ways before crossing streets, wearing highly visible costumes and avoiding masks or accessories that could obstruct vision.
Families are also encouraged to plan their trick-or-treating routes in advance and visit only homes displaying illuminated porch lights, which traditionally indicate that residents are welcoming Halloween visitors.
Motorists are urged to exercise additional caution, reduce their speed in residential areas and remain alert for children who may unexpectedly cross streets.
With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, increased participation is anticipated as families take advantage of the weekend to celebrate the holiday.
The Eagle Pass Police Department emphasized that community cooperation and responsible behavior are essential to preventing accidents and ensuring that everyone enjoys a safe Halloween.
Parents are encouraged to remain vigilant throughout the evening and remind children about pedestrian safety before heading out.
The department’s message to the community is simple: Enjoy Halloween, have fun and make safety a priority.
