Eagle Pass Police Chief Amy Gonzalez announced that the Eagle Pass Police Department recently welcomed representatives from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between local and state law enforcement agencies.
TABC Agent Gregorio Garza and Sergeant Andrea Eichman visited the department to discuss mutual public safety concerns, improve communication and explore collaborative enforcement efforts aimed at protecting Eagle Pass residents and visitors.
According to Chief Gonzalez, the meeting provided an opportunity to reinforce working relationships between the two agencies and establish additional cooperation in addressing issues involving alcoholic beverages, public safety and compliance with state laws.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is the state agency responsible for regulating the alcoholic beverage industry in Texas. Its responsibilities include licensing businesses that manufacture, distribute or sell alcoholic beverages, enforcing the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code and investigating violations involving alcohol-related establishments.
TABC agents are commissioned peace officers who work alongside municipal police departments, county sheriff’s offices and other law enforcement agencies to investigate violations of state alcohol laws.
These collaborative efforts can include investigating the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors, addressing illegal alcohol sales, identifying violations at licensed establishments and conducting enforcement operations intended to reduce alcohol-related public safety risks.
For communities such as Eagle Pass, where restaurants, bars, convenience stores and other businesses sell alcoholic beverages, cooperation between TABC and local law enforcement provides an additional resource for ensuring compliance with state regulations.
Chief Gonzalez emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication and coordinated enforcement efforts between agencies to address public safety concerns.
The Eagle Pass Police Department also expressed its appreciation to Agent Garza and Sergeant Eichman for their visit and willingness to continue working with local officers.
“Working Together for a Safer Eagle Pass!” Gonzalez stated, highlighting the department’s commitment to partnerships that support public safety throughout the community.
