The Eagle Pass Police Department’s Special Crimes Victim Unit will host a 5K run and one-mile walk on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026 to raise awareness about domestic violence and bring the community together in support of those affected.
The event is part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, observed each October.
Organizers are encouraging participants to wear purple, the awareness color, and join the community in showing support.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at 489 South Monroe St. in Eagle Pass, with the 5K scheduled to take off at 8:30 a.m.
Participants can choose between the 5K route and the one-mile walking route. The event is pet-friendly.
Several local running clubs and other law enforcement departments are expected to participate, according to the event flyer.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring toiletry donations for Belong, a regional nonprofit organization that helps foster care children.
The event aims to draw attention to domestic violence and encourage community support for people affected by it.
