Keryan Rashad Jones, the man accused in the shooting that killed two people and injured five others at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino, is scheduled to stand trial beginning on February 8, 2027, according to Maverick County District Court records.
Jones, 35, faces charges of murder, capital murder of multiple persons and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He remains in the Maverick County Jail with bond set at $5.1 million.
The shooting occurred September 27, 2025, outside the casino entrance. Emergency personnel responded to treat the victims while law enforcement agencies searched for the suspect.
Authorities arrested Jones the following morning in Wilson County when the Texas Department Public Safety Licensed Plate Reader located him in Wilson County and after a vehicle pursuit. He was later transferred to Maverick County to face charges.
Alicia Sanchez, a Dimmit County resident, and Marcus Antley, a retired U. S. Customs and Border Patrol agent, were killed. The five injured victims were taken to medical facilities in Eagle Pass and San Antonio, according to the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas.
The case is pending in the 293rd Judicial District Court. Jones pleaded not guilty and was found competent to stand trial during a May hearing. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Since the shooting, the casino has experienced additional security scares. In August, casino officials reported a bomb threat that was determined to be false after a review.
