Eagle Pass’ reputation for being an international hotbed for Tejano Music continues to thrive with the nomination of two local bands receiving nominations in several categories for the XLVI (46) Tejano Music Awards.
Eagle Pass band Da Krazy Pimpz is represented in three categories on the public ballot for the 46th Annual Tejano Music Awards, giving local fans an opportunity to support the group before voting closes Sunday, October 18, at 11:59 p.m.
The band’s album “A Otro Nivel” is listed for Conjunto Album of the Year, while “Doña Juana,” featuring Asalto, appears for Collaboration of the Year. Eddie Jimenez of Da Krazy Pimpz is also listed for Male Vocalist of the Year.
Da Krazy Pimpz returns to the awards process after winning Conjunto Album of the Year in 2025 for “Showtime.” The group has earned several previous honors, including Entertainer of the Year in 2018 and conjunto album awards in 2019 and 2021.
Fellow Eagle Pass artist Gary Hobbs is also represented in several categories. Hobbs appears for Male Vocalist of the Year, with “Soy Libre” listed for both Song of the Year and Tejano Album of the Year. His recording “Change Partners” is included for Country Song of the Year.
The two acts share a connection beyond their Eagle Pass roots.
Hobbs and his son, Gary Lee Hobbs, helped guide and produce Da Krazy Pimpz early in the band’s career as it developed its blend of Tejano, conjunto and cumbia music.
Public voting will determine the official nominees. The Texas Talent Musicians Association states that artists appearing on the current ballot have not yet received official nominations.
Those advancing will be announced Wednesday, October 21.
Fans must submit their selections by October 18 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. The deadline gives Eagle Pass residents and supporters of both acts only a few days to participate in the selection process.
The 46th Annual Tejano Music Awards will be held Friday, November 13, at Texas Rodeo Saloon in Katy, Texas.
