Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa brought her campaign to Maverick County on Sunday, October 11, 2026 drawing a large crowd of residents, public officials, local candidates and supporters to a successful rally at the International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass, Texas
Hinojosa was escorted into the event and welcomed by a traditional mariachi group, adding a festive touch to the gathering as she arrived to greet supporters.
The gathering gave residents an opportunity to meet Hinojosa and hear her campaign message as she challenges Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the November 3 election.
It also brought Democratic candidates together to encourage voter participation ahead of early voting.
Hinojosa was joined by Congressman Henry Cuellar, Texas Senator Roland Gutierrez, State Representative Eddie Morales, LULAC’s National President Domingo Garcia, Eagle Pass City Councilman Elias Diaz, Maverick County Democratic Party Chair Juanita Martinez, Maverick County Hospital District Board Trustee Becky Robinson and other public representatives.
Garcia, Gutierrez, Morales, Diaz and Martinez addressed the large gathering, encouraging support for Hinojosa and participation in the upcoming election.
Cuellar highlighted Hinojosa’s South Texas upbringing and expressed confidence in her ability to represent the region as governor.
“Gina Hinojosa is one of us, born in McAllen and raised in Brownsville, she’s South Texas through and through. When she’s elected Governor in November, I know she’ll bring that same South Texas sensibility to Austin, working with both parties to bring costs down, keep our communities safe, and protect our way of life.
With a week away, it’s time to roll up our sleeves, get to work, and elect a Democratic ticket in November,” Cuellar said.Local Democratic candidates also participated, including Justice of the Peace Kina Mancha, County Judge candidate Jerry Morales, Precinct 4 Commissioner candidate Alejandro Esquivel, and Maverick County Hospital District board candidate Judy Canales.
The candidates greeted those in attendance, shared their platform messages and discussed their priorities with residents. Their participation gave voters an opportunity to speak directly with candidates seeking offices that affect daily life in Maverick County.
Hinojosa’s campaign has focused on lowering everyday costs, strengthening public education and addressing concerns about data center development in Texas. Sunday’s rally brought those statewide issues to Eagle Pass while giving local supporters a chance to organize for the approaching election.
The turnout and participation of state and local representatives made the rally a successful campaign stop for Hinojosa as the race entered its final weeks.
Early voting runs October 19 through October 30. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
