Democratic candidate for Texas governor Gina Hinojosa thanked Maverick County residents for their warm welcome at her political campaign rally in Eagle Pass on Sunday October 11, 2026 and urged voters to turn that enthusiasm into participation in the November 3 election.
“We can win. What we need for ourselves, our families and our state. But we have to show up to vote,” Hinojosa said.
Hinojosa stated that the election is an opportunity for a generation to build a better future, emphasizing public education and the ability of working families to get ahead.
“We know our worth, and Texas families deserve the opportunity to work hard and build a good life. That is what the American dream should mean,” she said.
Public schools are central to that opportunity, Hinojosa said, adding that children deserve the education and support necessary to pursue their dreams.
Her message also addressed household finances and a proposal she said would return money to Texas families.
“My plan also calls for putting $1,500 back into every Texas household. That money belongs to the people, and it should help families meet their needs,” Hinojosa said.Hinojosa thanked residents for the reception she received during her Maverick County visit, which included a traditional mariachi welcome among a large group of supporters including several local public officials and candidates.
She encouraged residents to carry the energy of the gathering into the election.
“Thank you, Maverick County, for the warm welcome in Eagle Pass. Now we must carry that enthusiasm to the polls,” she said.
Early voting runs October 19 through October 30. Election Day is November 3.
