The sixth annual Lexy’s Pumpkin Patch was a great success Saturday, October 10, 2026 as families gathered in Hopedale to enjoy fall festivities and support children facing heart conditions.
Behind the pumpkins, music and children’s activities was the memory of Lexira “Lexy” Iracheta, a little girl whose short life inspired an annual tradition of giving.
Lexy passed away at just one year old due to a heart defect she was born with.
During her brief time on Earth, she touched many lives, leaving her family with a love they chose to share by helping others.
Her loved ones started Lexy’s Pumpkin Patch in 2021 to honor her life and raise awareness and funds through the Lexira Heart Foundation to assist children with heart problems.
Saturday’s gathering brought together families, local vendors and community supporters.
Children enjoyed games, jumping castles and barrel train rides, while visitors explored vendor booths, enjoyed food and music, and took family photographs.
The celebration gave residents a chance to enjoy time together while contributing to a cause that grew from one family’s loss.
For Lexy’s loved ones, it was another opportunity to share her story and keep her memory alive through assistance to other families.
This year, organizers expanded the pumpkin patch to two days for the first time, scheduling activities for October 10 and 11.
The event also included a blood drive with South Texas Blood & Tissue.
Organizers set a goal of at least 40 donors each day and advertised free admission and a free pumpkin for the first 20 blood donors each day.
Through the foundation, the pumpkin patch promoted awareness of congenital heart conditions and support for families, along with funding for research and care.
The success of the event reflected the community’s support for those efforts and for the family that started them.
What began in 2021 as a way to remember Lexy had grown into a gathering where families could make memories while helping children in need.
