The Maverick County Hospital District’s blood drive was a great success Friday, October 2, 2026 as district employees and community members came together to donate blood and help patients in need.
The blood drive was held aboard a South Texas Blood & Tissue bloodmobile stationed outside the Hospital District’s offices at 3406 Bob Rogers Drive.
Throughout the event, donors rolled up their sleeves to help strengthen the regional blood supply used for patients undergoing surgeries and medical treatments as well as those facing serious injuries and other emergencies.
Maverick County Hospital District Chief Executive Officer Nestor Bonilla thanked everyone who participated and emphasized the difference a single donation can make.
“When someone donates blood, they are giving something that can truly make a difference in another person’s life,” Bonilla said. “It takes only a small amount of time, but that donation could be there when a patient and their family need it most.”
The event was held in partnership with South Texas Blood & Tissue, which works to maintain a dependable blood supply for hospitals and patients throughout the region.
Local blood drives provide Eagle Pass and Maverick County residents with a convenient opportunity to donate without traveling outside the community. They also help raise awareness that blood is needed every day and cannot be manufactured or replaced by any other medical product.
Hospital District officials expressed their gratitude to every donor, volunteer and community member who supported the effort.
Every donation and act of generosity can make an important difference for patients during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
The successful turnout once again demonstrated Maverick County’s willingness to come together and give back when the community is called upon to help others.
