Maverick County District Clerk Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma announced that Maverick County has been selected to host the County and District Clerks’ Association of Texas (CDCAT) Region VIII Spring Conference in 2027, bringing court officials from across South Texas to Eagle Pass.
The selection was made during the CDCAT Region VIII Fall Conference held October 6 through October 8, 2026, when members voted during their business meeting to designate Maverick County as the host for the upcoming gathering.
“Our Region consists of 34 counties that includes 62 clerks. I am proud to say that I have been selected as Co-Director of the State Clerks Association to represent our Region and Maverick County,” said Vielma.
The CDCAT is a statewide professional organization divided into eight regions that promotes continuing education, professional standards and cooperation among county and district clerks.
Regional conferences provide opportunities for officials to discuss legislative developments, court administration, records management and technological advancements.
Vielma emphasized that hosting the conference will also provide an opportunity to promote Eagle Pass and Maverick County while potentially benefiting local businesses and the hospitality industry.
“We are proud to have our county selected. We not just look at assembling a productive educational conference. In addition, all that Maverick County and the City of Eagle Pass has to offer. We will be highlighting local restaurants, business, boutiques, Fort Duncan and our renowned Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino,” Vielma stated.
Eagle Pass previously hosted the CDCAT Region VIII Spring Meeting in 2025, during which Hidalgo County District Clerk Laura Hinojosa was nominated for the statewide District Clerk of the Year Award.
Vielma’s selection as regional Co-Director also places him in a leadership position within the statewide association, representing Region VIII and Maverick County.
Specific dates and the conference venue for spring 2027 have not yet been announced.
