October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States.
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, United Medical Centers invites the community to a breast cancer awareness event Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the International Center for Trade, 3295 Bob Rogers Drive, Eagle Pass, Texas.
UMC’s Women’s Health Center Breast and Cervical Cancer Services program is organizing the event under the theme “Juntos Somos Más Fuertes,” bringing residents together to learn about breast cancer and support those affected by the disease.
The Breast and Cervical Cancer Services program helps eligible women access screenings and diagnostic services, particularly those who face financial barriers to care. Breast cancer awareness efforts help women understand the importance of screenings, recognize changes in their breast health and seek medical attention when something is wrong.
Dr. Alberto Aguayo, who practices gynecology, will give a presentation on breast cancer.
The event’s message, “La detección temprana salva vidas,” highlights the importance of early detection.
Those attending can enjoy free food and drinks, lotería games and free prize drawings alongside with an informative session.
Organizers ask residents to wear pink to participate in the games and drawings.
The event gives local families an opportunity to learn more about breast cancer while spending time with friends, neighbors and others whose lives have been touched by the disease.
Residents are encouraged to bring a friend or family member and join United Medical Centers for the community gathering.
