The City of Eagle Pass presented a $10,000 contribution to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars organization during a City Council meeting, recognizing its continued dedication to honoring and supporting veterans.
The contribution was approved by City Council in September 2026 as part of the City’s 2026-2927 fiscal budget.
Mayor Aaron Valdez and City Council members Mario Garcia, Jessica Rey Ramon and Billy Davis participated in the presentation on behalf of the city.
The contribution recognized the Eagle Pass VFW’s work in support of the men and women who served in the nation’s armed forces and its efforts to preserve the memory of their sacrifices.
City officials expressed appreciation for veterans’ courage, service and commitment to protecting the nation’s freedoms. The presentation also highlighted the importance of continuing to recognize their contributions within the community.
Veterans organizations such as the VFW provide a connection among former service members while helping communities remember those who served and those who lost their lives in military service.
Through the presentation, the city reaffirmed its appreciation for local veterans and recognized the VFW’s continued role in keeping their service and sacrifices in public remembrance.
