The Eagle Pass C.C. Winn High School Mavericks varsity football team secured a berth in the 2026 Class 5A Division I playoffs and are headed into its final regular-season game with an opportunity to bring postseason football to Eagle Pass.

Under head coach Rene Ramirez and his coaching staff, the Mavericks entered their Friday, November 6, 2026 matchup against San Antonio Southside Cardinals with a 4–5 overall record and a 4–2 district mark. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Southside.

A victory tonight will give Winn second place in district and the opportunity to host a bi-district playoff game in Eagle Pass. A loss will send the Mavericks out of town for their opening playoff matchup.

Winn positioned itself for the postseason with three consecutive victories, defeating San Antonio Jay 27–7, South San Antonio 35–28 and Laredo Nixon 30–6.

The late-season surge gave Ramirez, his staff and their players momentum heading into the regular-season finale, with a home playoff game providing added incentive against Southside.
